The photo does not give good reference to show the size of the hole. If it is a main entry hole there is usually a lot of lose dirt in front of it and goes into the ground gradual. If it is an emergency entry hole they will go straight down for a ways and do not have lose fill around them. Just my theory. This example is if the location is in a very open area like a field or field edge as the photo portrays.

A ruler or some sort of common, relative-sized object (coin, dollar bill) is helpful as a comparison in photos. The sticks in the entry tend to indicate a little-used hole.
Based on the surrounding objects, could have been a GH hole.

Does not look like an active chuck hole, pretty "dirty." Cover the hole with trap, approach with caution.
