Ok, all jokes aside dry dog food works fairly well.

Always the 'tried and true' method of blocking down and setting the trap in the 'rats' path !

Our local wood rats don't have bushy tails. That looks like a Bushy-tailed Woodrat, was it caught in Ohio?
Here are pictures of our local wood rat (Eastern Woodrat Neotoma floridana) compared to a Roof rat-

Woodrat Is the larger rat (adult male). Roof rat "teenage" male.

I find that fruit based baits work well on our wood rats.
