im learning how to put beavers up and i was wonndering if anyone hd and pics for examples that i could look at to see how it is done thank for anyone that respondes

Here is how I do mine. I make my own hoops out of 3/8 round stock and use hog rings every inch or so. Then I pin the leg holes with a piece of cardboard. Hope this helps.

how do u round those hoops when you make them or do they do it themseves when u wrap it

i think the hoops look better on the small ones this one didnt reach the line so it was hard to eye without lots of experience

proly easier to round them than oval them

My hoops are like Wiley Red 3/8 round stock, they started out round, but I'll bent them to get the oval shape. I use a pattern board to decide the size of the beaver then change over to a hoop. I'll then expand the hoop to where it needs to be on size. Pin the leg holes. I found that using a leather hole punch I can punch the holes and then hook the hog rings. Got tired of sticking myself with them.

you can also notice that the pic of the hooped beaver i posted....the beaver IS NOT round. I obtained the oval shape by using a piece of string or tensioning bar. I would suggest the tensioning bar if you are going to strech them on wire, the string will leave a memory in the fur that shows a line once the pelt is dry. The line doesn't show on the pelt side just the fur side.

I could see an advantage to using a heavier strecher like posted above. Im guessing the 3/8 rod holds its shape well once you form it.
