LEWIS E. QUARLES, 77, of Snow Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001
at his home. Born in Buchanan,
VA, he was the son of the late Harry Franklin and Hannah Keith Quarles. An avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper, Mr. Quarles manufactured and sold turtle traps. He had recently retired as president of Quarles Poultry Company and volunteered at area sporting events teaching young people how to trap and hunt. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Quarles was a member of Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill, and was a life member in the National Trappers Association, the Maryland Fur Trappers Association and the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. and American Legion Post #67 in Snow Hill. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Bryant Quarles; a son, Steven Arnold Quarles and his wife, Pat of Christchurch, New Zealand; a daughter, Susan Diane Quarles of Alexandria, VA; a grandson, Jason Allen Quarles; three brothers, Carey Quarles and his wife, Karla of Fort Collins, CO, Carson Quarles and his wife, Norma of Roanoke, VA and Bob Quarles and his wife Ann of New Smyrna Beach, FL; three sisters, Elizabeth Watson and her husband Lloyd of Asheville, N.C.; Janet Hall and her husband Carlton of South Carolina and Tresa Quarles of Harrisonburg, VA; a sister-in-law, Mary Quarles of Covington, VA and several nieces and nephews. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
