We have gotten a lot of snow out my way and now have to contend with it. I made my dirt hole sets, covered trap in plastic wrap, and then sifted snow over it. Went to check traps this morning and came to see that bait was stollen and no traps jumped. The snow over the trap had packed solid. Trap was good but took more force to trip the pan than a yote could possibly have. Any help on how to bed in the snow or other possible ways would be graetly apreciated.
Thanxs.

I found a thin slab of snow will cover the trap and break when they step on it. If you move the snow it will harden like if it drifted. Asa is more experienced with deep powdery snow than I am. He could give you some good pointers.T.20

There is another thread on here about snow trapping also, look back a few pages. Asa even offered to email advice if you emailed him. I suggest listening to Asa, as it helped me catch probably close to 3/4's of my over 110 reds in the snow last year.

One must take the snow in some sort of scoop and fling it way up into the air and let it sift down over the trap. This way the snow collects air on its way down and doesn't freeze as hard as a rock. Sifting snow from just over the trap most always freezes hard. Ace

That is why, I was wondering why it froze so easy. T.20
