Not if you put them underwater I use hardwood....broke one this year (stomping it in)....and had none chewed. Besides...wood hold much better in the mud than rebar...and they're lighter too!

i work for a manufacturing co that w orks with all types of metal i can dig 1/2" rod out of the scrap hopper at random lengths and cut to my need then i pick up some washers and weld em up easy as pie.

i use 1-2 inch on coon also and never had one leave with a stake. water or land. my stakes are 28 and 30 inch. double stake if he is near a bank where he can get above the stake.

i use wood stakes to hold all rat beaver coon traps will even use them them on my coyote line in sand i use 1x2 12" to 18" long
$20.00 trap, a $1.00 stake, probably $1.00 in pan cover, bait, urine, and lure, Not to mention gas etc. All for a $10.00 coyote.Priceless!!!!!

Trapper12 ADC has it right with wooden stakes but make sure they are made out of a hard wood please . I almost last my dog to a Kids trap years ago , not that you would not chack your traps every day , but someone did not . I found her a week latter just skin and bones , she ok now but if you use wood, and I think it's great, just make sourer you anchored it better then I can spell .I know you have very little money for trapping and that's ok I still do'nt have much money for trapping and one of the ways you can save money is wooden stakes ,just make them good and strong ,and if yoa need help you send a poast here I am sure some one will help yoa
Do it with what you got and you wont need what you do not have
