This is just an inquiry about people you might know who have large amounts of ground fish in Iowa. I have gotten it in the past from the guy up by Spirit Lake. I do make it to Muscatine and the Dubuque area often. I was wondering if anyone along the river at either one of those locations knows of a fish market or commercial fisherman who has ground fish in bulk, cheap.

Check at Scotty's outdoors in Muscatine, I believe there is a place along the river that I have heard sometime ago,They should know.

I have a grinder ADC. I'll tell you what Jamie. I'll get the fish and you can grind it. You can have half the fish. Getting fish is not the problem, getting the gorund fish is.

I think I can get it for 30 cents a pound at Spirit Lake. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You remember that gas powered grinder Scottie had on here a couple years back? LOL Can't you rig up something like that? You could use it for the "other" white meat too.

I would love to have a big grinder. However I am stuck with a little one (same old grind). If I could find a mink ranch going out of business I would be in the market for one if priced right. I would also love to have a walk in freezer. A big machine shed....I could go on and on.

LOL- With all your money? Heck, I figured you had everything a man could want.

Here's an idea, set up a drug sting in a meat locker, and sieze the stuff you need as "evidence". ;\)

build a stand out of 2 x 8 lumber, mount your hand grinder, take the handle off and replace with a pulley wheel. put a second board under the top piece low enough to mount a 1/3 hp elec motor put a small pulley wheel on the motor. Attach a belt. plug in,,,,,run frozen chunks of fish thru it . works good with frozen mice and chunks of beaver, hope this helps. Tom

Thanks chessie. That makes sense. I used to work at a mink ranch and we had a huge grinder. Could run half frozen 50lb blocks of meat through it. If I still had access to that look out!

Believe it or not Jamie I did take a grow operation out of an old walk in freezer in a meat locker. Also took a meth lab out of another meat locker. The guys were using the anhydrous out of the freezing system for thier lab.

Foolish place for such things, as State inspectors can drop in at any time.
