If you got it on the material then you can use a mixture of peroxide, dish soap(DAWN)and baking
I think the % is in the archives, if I'm not mistaken.

If it's just the odor lingering, try artificial catnip in a mist sprayer.

Hasn't been a case of rabies in skunks in SW ohio. Lots of distemper cases, however!

Thanks LT I'll try your cure. The skunk was acting drunk, staggering and not being selfish with the juice..it's eyes were matted shut almost..I don't know how to tell the difference between rabies and distemper? I did call the local warden and let him know...

For skunk odor removal I like my electric mister blower with Epoleon. I did a job where the skunks sprayed under the deck. The customer had 1/2 the deck boards pulled up before I got there. I was able to shoot the first one easily. The second one I hit in the back as it ran by. Removed some more boards and shot that one. They had sprayed before I got there and the second one spryed agian when I shot it the first time.
I started fogging then asked him to check with his fresh nose. I hit the original spot twice and he couldn't smell it anymore. But I found where there was a gap in the deck board by the house where mice could get in. Cold air was coming in too. The opening was right behind the furnace. That was why the whole house smelled of skunk. I fogged around the furnace and that helped alot. They already had used several types of deodorizers thruout the house.

I see the need for using Plasti-Catch traps more this year. My problem is that I seem to have a harder time getting skunks inside them. I clean them well, so odors shouldn't be a problem. What do you guys, like Ron scheller, use for bait/lure in your Plasti-Catches?

I have one like that because they used to make 'em that way. Works good on coon & chucks, but not any better than the closed ends for skunks.

Paul, I have never used the plasti-catch traps 'cause what I DON'T need are a bunch of "specialised" traps. What we do is cover our regular coon size traps with construction grade visquine (sp?)and then wrap that with strips of 1.88 wide duct tape four strips each the length of the trap, sides, top and bottom and then we wrap about six strips spaced out evenly all around the trap front to back. I never take this cover off no matter what I'am trapping for, coon, skuk, fox what ever, the cover stays on. I very seldom have a skunk spray in these traps (about 3 out of a hundred) but if it happens all I have to do is cut off the cover with a pair of scissors, bury the cover with the skunk, put the trap back into my truck shell that night along with our o-zone machine and by the next morning it's ready to cover and use again with no odor. Takes me about 10 minutes per trap to get it covered.

Bob, I actually find the Plasti-Catch less specialised than some of my wire cages. I have caught countless raccoon, opossum, and woodchucks in them. I would just like to do a little better on skunks. I know that there are some guys who use these cages almost exclusively for skunk and do extremely well.
