In response to another post concerning this.....here is my response

You can buy them and JC's are the best ..........but if you are like me and get a kick out of fabricating trapping stuff....
the other post showed making them with a post jig like some make nail swivels with....

I made this jig....and I think it is more user friendly....I put the chestnut stake swivel on the traps that I mod.

here is some self explanatory pics.......the only thing that doesn't show is the groove that holds and grips and tracks the 1/4 in rod...it only goes a short way around the pick-up mandrel and is about 1/16 in deep



















You will notice how when bend around the mandrel how uniform and symmetrical the finish stake ring is.....insert your chain link.....close and weld...........sometimes you will need to trim.....if like me your lengths vary a little.....bolt cutters make short work of that......

Cletis, You got any dimensions for that link? I think I will have to make me up one of those..... that looks pretty handy. how big do your links turn out? and how far apart are your post on the tool?

I don't have the dimensions use a factory as a pattern will measure tomorrow.....I know it takes 7 and 3/8 to reach around.......

Diamond.......the inside measurement on the ring almost three inches..........I used half inch rod for the mandrel.....which I had on hand.....cut bushing from 1/2 in black pipe to bring inside width for use with 1/2 rebar .................center to center on the upright half inch rods..... 2 and 3/8 in spacing ,,which with the pipe bushing brings the inner width and length to specs.

Hey Cletis, this would make a good demo at the MTA rondy this year, along with another good bobcat demo.
Just a thought.

I just noticed that in the last pic the tracking groove barely shows up.....

can't put a face to your handle....would you care to enlighten me.
