These ARA loons talk of war as if they had a clue how insignificant they are to the majority of humans. They can pretend they are some sort of force upon the universe but they are nothing more than a group of bed wetting hypocrites who will fold like chicken wings upon getting handcuffs wrapped around their wrists. .

Yourofsky, Marino planning global vegan day (blog)‏

NOTE: What the bio on Yourofsky below fails to mention, is that there is an unpaid $34,000 restitution order against him over the losses suffered by the Ebert family in the 1997 attack on their farm.

Negotiation Is Over
Teaching to the Unconverted: The ITS “Liberate Vegan Education” Campaign
by Gary Yourofsky & Camille Marino
August 5, 2010 —

We have pooled all of our combined resources and talents. On
September 1, we will advance a comprehensive and ambitious model of
global outreach and education. Every vegan who is ready to create real
change is encouraged to join us — pacifists, moderates and militants,
abolitionists and liberationists. No matter where our ideologies may
diverge, if we are here for the animals, then…

WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE!!

“History is a race between education and catastrophe.” -H. G. Wells

We understand that in order to effectively defend our nonhuman
brothers and sisters, we need to arm ourselves with every available
tactic and wage our own war on mercenary exploiters while we
simultaneously re-educate the masses. We are saddened by vegans who
are adept at discussing the virtues of nonviolent education among
themselves yet fail to act on their own rhetoric. Since it appears
that they are easily entertained by issuing blanket criticisms of all
action, we would like to offer them yet another. We have decided to
re-introduce education into the vegan community as a revolutionary
form of activism. In addition to creative grassroots projects, fear-
and intimidation-based campaigns, evolving models of coordinated
actions, and all forms of resistance, we need to recognize that true
hardcore vegan education must take place in society, not within the
cozy confines of Veganville.

Everyone may now dispose of those vegan leaflets that always end up
littering the streets… we won’t be needing them anymore. We’re doing
this our way… and we have no time to do it one plate at a time. We’re
breaking the paradigm of vegan inreach (among white elites and the
converted choir) to true vegan outreach to liberate the potential of
vegan education for society as a whole.

There are several amazing educators in the animal liberation community
that afford us an opportunity to learn how to speak to any group of
people, introduce veganism in a meaningful way, and begin to
disseminate our message throughout every social strata. Fortunately
for us, all of those educators and activists are on the NIO Editorial
Collective. And one of them, Gary Yourofsky, has taken vegan outreach
and turned it into, perhaps, one of the most powerful tools our
movement has to offer. It is important to understand that Yourofsky
avoids the media, the conference circuits, and never wastes his time
preaching to any of us. Rather, he lectures at universities across the
country all year long, he’s taught at agricultural colleges, and he
never misses an opportunity to challenge hunters and assorted
speciesists. Therefore, having heard every justification and
rationalization for eating animals countless times, Gary knows exactly
how to respond. And, now, we — and the nonhuman slaves — are the
beneficiaries of his experience.

Wednesday – September 1, 2010 (all day): Franchising Yourofsky
For our end-of-summer vegan education action, every available member
of the ITS Collective will advance what we believe to be the first
coordinated global vegan education campaign in our own local
communities. Using a full 70-minute video of a recent lecture given at
Georgia Tech, we can now optimize what Gary does best — educate the
unenlightened. The video that we are promoting is the most
comprehensive, militant, entertaining, humorous, heart wrenching, and
sincere discussion of veganism available. It does what education is
supposed to do: remove the blinders, re-introduce truth, and
re-educate the indoctrinated.

Your Personal Invitation to Join Us

In any given hour, Gary can transform hundreds of meateaters to
ethical vegans. How many vegans can we convert on September 1 if we
all employ his model together? We want to know. This is our chance to
embrace the practical application of nonviolent vegan education and
make it our own.

When we said “by any means necessary,” we meant it!

Every single activist is welcome and encouraged to join us. We want
every pacifist, moderate, militant, etc. who is finished talking and
prepared to act. The blogosphere is no longer a prison where
“education” is being held captive. We are handing over the keys and
giving everyone the tools they need to be an agent of social change
“In the Streets.”

The global collective continues to expand its reach and all vegan
liberationists are invited to apply to an existing cell or take the
initiative and we will help you start your own cell. But no one should
feel compelled to join us. The animals don’t care if you identify with
NIO and neither do we. They need relief and it is our shared communal
responsibility to do everything we can to provide it.

Start Planning Today

We all need to reserve a community center, library, coffee shop, or
other neighborhood venue that will allow us to reserve at least
90-minutes to engage the public. College and high-school students
could reserve a room for after-school activism. We are going to play
Gary’s 70-minute lecture, take any questions, and talk to our
neighbors.

Anyone who reserves a vegan restaurant to do an effective nonviolent
vegan education action may not play with us anymore.

Start Promoting Tomorrow

Two members of our Task Force, Alison Stone (ali.stone83@yahoo.com)
and Lorna Dev Ious (lornaanwin@yahoo.co.uk), will begin doing
intensive outreach with our cells to facilitate local promotions of
this action. Any flyers or other materials created for our collective
will be published and readily available for all activists to use
freely. Any questions about promoting your own action should be
directed to Alison and Lorna.

Those interested in starting a local NIO In the Streets cell should
contact camille@negotiationisover.com.

This is how we begin to reach people and educate them… we come
together as vegans and extend ourselves to the outside world.

Continuing Education

Re-education demands reinforcing ideas and transitioning to veganism
in our society demands a support system be in place. Our entire team
will work to provide a supportive community environment and Gary
Yourofsky will personally answer ANY and ALL questions posed. This
forum will be up and available on September 1.

Nonviolent vegan education…. WE JUST MADE IT MILITANT!!!

About Gary Yourofsky

Gary Yourofsky has spoken to thousands of students about the true
meaning of animal rights. Gary’s powerful and enlightening message has
been heard by more than 50,000 students in 160 middle schools, high
schools and universities nationwide, including UTEP, U. of Florida,
Georgia Tech and Fresno State. Gary uses thought-provoking prose,
inspiring stories, indisputable facts, quotes from Pythagoras, William
Ralph Inge and other great thinkers, plus graphic footage from
slaughterhouses (land and sea), to ask people to be kind to animals
and, ultimately, go vegan.

Lecturing is a softer approach for Yourofsky, who has been arrested
numerous times for random acts of kindness and compassion, and
banished by five foreign countries from entering their borders. In
1997, Gary even liberated 1,542 minks scheduled for certain death from
the Eberts Fur Farm in Blenheim, Ontario. Several attorneys, led by
Donald Perkins, Esq., tried to pass a resolution in Michigan in honor
of Yourofsky’s actions. “We recognize that throughout this nation’s
history, other individuals, acting from conscience have similarly
violated certain laws and ordinances. In our own time, these same
principles of nonviolent disobedience to unjust laws have been applied
by such individuals as the Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi and the Reverend
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom were—as was Michigan’s Gary
Yourofsky—sentenced to jail for their actions.”

Wayne State University professor Jack Lessenberry, a former NY Times
reporter who currently writes for The Oakland Press, The Metro Times
and Toledo Blade, once said this about Michigan’s most outspoken
animal rights activist: “We murder billions of animals each year, and
that’s what Yourofsky has dedicated his young life to fighting.
Actually, he knows he can’t do much to stop it but he intends to raise
our consciousness. Frankly, when I went to interview Yourofsky, I
expected to meet a fanatic. Afterward, not only did I find him
frighteningly sane and mostly convincing, I had the rather uneasy
feeling that always comes when you realize that you are a hypocrite.”

Yourofsky’s inspirational actions have been covered by every
newspaper, radio outlet, and TV station in his native Detroit, and by
countless other media outlets nationwide. Author Charlotte Montgomery
included a chapter about Yourofsky in the book Blood Relations:
Animals, Humans and Politics. Yourofsky also wrote an essay in 2004
entitled Abolition, Liberation, Freedom. Coming to a Fur Farm Near
You, which was published in the first-ever book about the Animal
Liberation Front. Dr. Steve Best, a philosophy professor at UTEP,
oversaw the production of Terrorists or Freedom Fighters?. Another
essay by Yourofsky, What’s Wrong With Hunting?, appeared in the book
Hunting: Opposing Viewpoints, published in 2008 by the Gale
Group/Greenhaven Press. In 2009, Westview Press’ textbook Essential
Criminology (3rd edition), written by professors Mark Lanier (UCF) and
Stuart Henry (SDSU), featured a brief summary of Yourofsky essays that
indict humans as criminal violators of animals. Gary has also written,
produced and done several voiceovers for graphic, hard-hitting TV ads
that have aired in LA and Detroit. Born in 1970, Yourofsky holds a
B.A. in journalism from Oakland U. and a radio/broadcasting degree
from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts.

Gary Yourofsky is NIO’s Senior Editor of Vegan Education. Founder of
ADAPTT (Animals Deserve Absolute Protection Today and Tomorrow).
Yourofsky uses his notoriety (including 13 arrests, a mink liberation
in Canada in ‘97, and banishment from five countries) to reach tens of
thousands of students through approximately 250 engagements annually
in public schools and universities across the country. He uses
thought-provoking prose, inspiring stories, indisputable facts, quotes
from Pythagoras, William Ralph Inge and other great thinkers, plus
graphic footage from slaughterhouses (land and sea), to ask people to
be kind to animals and, ultimately, go vegan. Please visit Gary’s
website: ADAPTT.

Camille Marino is the founder & Senior Editor of NIO. She is the
coordinator of the Florida unit of the NIO In the Streets collective
of decentralized autonomous resistance cells, a Task Force Director,
and co-founder of Pro-Test for Science. Negotiating with abusers is an
exercise in futility. The only action that matters to the imprisoned
is the one that imparts freedom. It is a moral obligation to protect
the innocent. Free speech must be exercised or it shrivels up and
dies. Oppressors never simply relinquish their power. They need to be
subdued and removed.

NIO In the Streets is a global decentralized political collective of
autonomous resistance cells united in the goal of overcoming passivity
and fear, and stimulating resistance to domination in all forms. We
aim to transform an inherently dysfunctional dominator society by
establishing new associations based on peace, cooperation, autonomy,
equality throughout the sentient community, harmony with the natural
world, and sustainable modes of living.
