I do know that they could show up in very unlikely places for such a critter. Only a handful of years back, a wolverine was found trying to get into a local farmer's lambing barn. He went after it with a pitch fork, as was heard, and it turned on him and he jumped in his pickup and ran it over. The Fish and game had it mounted and is resting at the Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge in the extreme North Eastern edge of MT. To put that into perspective, that puts this large male wolverine darn near into ND! The country by here, where it was living, was as hardcore farm country as anywhere in the Mid West, minus the rees. This is just to give you an idea on the possibilities of how far, such a little known about critter, can roam, and the type of country one could take up residence! It was very "odd" to say the least. So who knows, anything is possible. BTW, this story can be researched, lol!

Does anyone have a credible knowledge of when the last one was seen in Colorado?
Rick you said you have them in Idaho. Are you allowed to trap them?
While I'm thinking about Idaho, anyone knows what Ken Johnson is up too? Haven't heard from him in a long time. I guess all these deployments have something to do with it.

A friend of mines dad killed one when he was a young boy up in Northern Minnesota. I would guess about 40 years ago. We chased on off a field in Boisevain Manitoba (just north of the ND border) about 10 years ago while goose hunting. Really cool looking. We followed it for a couple of miles. It just kept loping along.

It's estimated that she walked over from Ontario in the winter. I've got an article related to it somewhere.
They did DNA testing on some hair, it's a female wolverine and closely related to wolverine from ontario.
according to the woods and watter news it has strait up alaskan D.N.A. some injenious drug dealer probably had it as a guard animal! till it escaped!

I can't remember when it was published, but they were using the most current information at the time...however, it is no longer the most current information. http://www.michigansthumb.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17251808&BRD=2292&PAG=461&dept_id=571474&rfi=6

We have had them here from time to time, seems they like to travel and look for new country. You would think that as many trappers that are out there would be more accidental catches, but I have never heard of one here.

There was one 2 years ago that was trapped in Montana that had been released in Colorado. They had collared it and had followed its path from Co up through Wyo and Idaho and 2 different routes through Yellowstone Nat park into Montana near Missoula.

They aren't a critter that you'd catch accidentally. They are pretty darned wary of anything out of the ordinary in their territory. Or if the trapper did catch it, it never made the news because they never found his body.

Slyder,
A friend of mine works for the BLM in Colorado, he and his brother took their boys up on the divide a couple of years ago to prescout some elk country....
They told me they saw 2 up above the tree line... I will ask where they saw it, the next time I see the brother that still lives down here......
Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,
bulletbox, TEXAS
Even sheep are smart enough to shade up when it gets over 100....
