since I have all this free time now from the layoff, I thought i would fill the freezer with fish for bait for the upcoming season, my question is

which fish would be best for coon?

Should I get the fish from the area I plan to trap or does it matter?

thanks in advance, woody

I like creek chubs best here in Iowa, but I've not see coon pass up any kind of fish.

Woody,

Minnow traps with dog/cat food will get you creek chubs and huge crayfish.

I'd use anything but Gar. I don't know if anything eats them.

Not sure there is a "best"....most fish will work.I to like chubbs....had a friend give me a box of salmon heads and guts.Wow, they really worked.....I like fish with oil but just about anything works.

I use Jack Mackerel from Save - A - Lot grocery store. It's cheap & works great !
