The PVC tube traps (not to be confused with the metal "Tube Trap" for squirrels) are a great skunk trap. I had a lady (85 years old) with a skunk living under her house, and caught it the first night using a positive control trap set-up with 2 tube traps. I also modify mine by removing the solid metal back plate and install a 1x1 heavy welded-wire mesh covered with 1/2" hardware mesh. Keeps any animals from toasting in the trap (from sun or heat) and the skunks still never spray. Even with the positive set-up I always add a little cat food or bait to get them into the trap before they try digging out under the boards or mesh. By the way... the boards were screwed together, and the traps fastened to the boards with a screw through the washer welded to the trap. The outer board is also buried about 5 inches into the ground.

So it is true a skunk will not spray in the trap.

Nothing is 100%. You will still get some small ones that I call leakers. Not realy spray but not putoonias either. So dont go piling a bunch of skunks in tube traps into your new buick! Much easier to work with though.

They work well. That is my professional opinion.
