id put at least 3 heavy duty swivels ,#2 chain ,make sure the pan is not wobbly .if you have a welder you can base plate and laminate ,i use all 1 3/4 for land now ,i used mostly 1 1/2s before ,then coyotes started moving in and destroying my traps ,now i go with all 1 3/4 as i find it a great universal trap for all critters im catching .all my 1 1/2s are used for water traps

Hmmmm, are you really sure this is the case?????

I can't even think of how many coyotes and cats I have taken with the Modified Duke 1.5's. Only thing that limits you is jaw spread and that is eliminated by showing them where YOU want them to step.

We are still Bro's Andy.......

Oh, there were still those Duke's in the truck and the rest of them were froze under the ice on all those watersheds........

Jacob. I do think you need to put some pan tension on your trap. You do this by tightening up the screw that is holding the pan to the trap. Tighten it up a little and then work it and see if it moves with just a little pressure. If it takes a small amount of pressure to move it you will be alright. You seem like a new traper and dont understand all the modification terms that have been throwed at you. You hang in there and you will learn. Only way you can learn is ask questions. larry

boys, there ain't no way salt can be bad for ya... if your eating it on buttered sweet corn...NO WAY

Understood.... There is no need to go to that extent for water trapping. I use them for both. I also modify everything and am not at all too bashful to use them on coyotes/cats. Heck, I am just not bashful at all.

I built up some fully modified 1.5 Dukes I use for yotes. These have laminations, baseplates, MB crunchproof swivels, turned up and bubbled jaw tips, new brass bolts, nitelatched, #3 American chain and #2 music wire springs.

Why...because in some areas, dogs are an issue and these traps are very, very easy on the feet and not as "scary" to landowners

Absolutely NO PROBLEM holding our yotes in these. We don't have the Eastern wolf-yotes...just Western Oregon's red belly yotes. I hold these, not once in a while...I hold them CONSISTENTLY!! I short chain and use 1/8" cables on Pogo anchors.

These are not my #1 choice for yotes....I prefer MB 650 O/I laminated and Duke #3 OS fully modified and 4 coiled. But I never am worried I'll lose a yote or bobcat in the modified 1.5s.

Lets not hijack someones post .He is looking for information on how to do the mods . Make your own if you want to poke at each other .
