Which notch do you use when you set your 110's for rats and mink? Personally I use the one that squeezes the 110 as tight as possible on the stabilizer but that varies from trap to trap. ~ADC~

I use whichever one fits the support stick the best.

I usually use notch #3 for the lighter trigger tension, but will set on another notch to make the trap stable if I feel it's too wobbly with my chosen stabilizer.

Boss Paul posted on this once, He said the notch closest to the pivot made it a hair trigger, middle "Normal", and the end was the least sensitive, for in currrent etc.

I like notch #3 if I'm setting it on land. If its for muskrats, it will probably be set on a slant because the trap is set on the rat house, or just set in calm water, notch #2. And if its set in current I use notch #1.

I set on 3 most of the time. Especially bottom edge sets. Easier to stabilize in mud. Will set on 3 on bank trails to for the same reason. I set it on 1 in rat runs.

alright i've always wondered about why there is 3 differnt notches but didnt know it was so complecated i've always used the first notch cause i figured it would be just a little bit faster to catch the animal than if i set on the 3rd notch?

I used a "stakealizer" SP? like the bottom picture in ADC's post once for muskrats. I had to squeeze the trap on to get it to fit because the stake was a little to tight (the space between the rods were the bottom jaw goes). When I checked the trap the next day my bait was gone. I pulled up on the dog to see if the trap would fire, but since I squeezed the trap on the stake it took too much pressure to fire, hence no catch. I think whatever notch you chose to use, use it, but just be sure the jaws and dog are under tension from the spring only.
Check the archives, it's probably there!
