Well that sucks I was really hoping to start on yotes this weekend. The Oct. 27 weekend I will start. It will only be a few days earlier than I usually start. I gues I will focus on ducks, deer and rats this weekend. These next couple weeks will be some of the best mallard hunting we get all year. Its funny after the first few days of Nov. all the birds leave even thought there is still open water and lots of food. I see them migrate over, but they just keep going.

Yea, we all of a sudden have A LOT of green heads here! Time to get the 870 out I think.

And yea, even 10 days can make a difference in the primness of a pelt. But if you could leave it longer it won't get worse?

October 17, 2012:

9 rats today, one of which was badly chewed up by those nasty swamp beetles. That makes 28 rats in the last 4 days. Not terribly bad I don't think.

I'll call him chewy?
You can't see it well, but hes chewed apart all around the head, on 3 of 4 feet and over the back side of him.

October 21,2012 (Back Post):

6 more from last night that I didn't get posted. That makes 42 of them since October 14th. Only had two that aren't market worthy because of those ugly little swamp beetles. For those who don't know what I am referring too they look like this:
I would rather jump into a pool of leeches and other water insects then into a pool with these little devils.

6 rats

I laughed for a second (minute) too, but i think he wants to know if they are an invasive species or not.

They've been here for as long as I've known, and if they weren't native too this area please direct me too the person who accidentally or not brought them in.
Perhaps the transporter and the beetles can meet up again..

October 26, 2012:
Had about an inch or so of snow fall here since 1:00 this afternoon. We normally get snow Oct. 31. The question is will this stay and keep piling up or melt in a few days? They are calling for high's of -2 Celsius so it should stick around for a few days.

Pulled all rat sets today. 1/2" of ice that doesn't look like it's going anywhere too quickly was the sign too pull..

Caught three rats how ever. One died on land and then a weasel feasted on it..
That makes 51 this fall.

keep those subs going, you can really slay them in the runs., use some leaves on the ice to slow freezing down. Make sure you even process those chewed up ones they went for 5.50 $ in the last auction.
