If you use cable for drowning coon, how do you make it adjustable? I am interested in seeing some pictures of how you like to do it.

Josh

You stake it through the two loops and pull on the end with aluminum stop to make it tight.

Wow, I'm a little dizzy from trying to follow all of those lines, but I understand it. Thanks ADC.

I'm guessing this set up is same as you were describing possum skinner?

Do either of you have any problems with the cam lock kinking your cable? What are your thoughts on using a regular snare lock (i.e. a washer lock or even a drowner lock)?

Does anybody else out there use a different adjustment mechanism?

I guess you type a little faster than me possum skinner. \:\)

Another thought: have you ever tried attaching a cable stake directly to the cam lock in place of the short looped piece of cable?

A regular lock wont lock it down the way that the cam will. I use the same set up as these guys works perfect.

Advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life you have imagined.

Gary ... Newt showed me a few years back. That's where i picked it up from.

yeah you do get some "kink" after a catch or mulitiple catches

i use it with 1/8" cable set up on my MB750's ... an otter can and will put a hurtin on just about anything

never had a kink that made it unusable ... i like to coil the excess and secure it with a zip tie, and shove it in the mud ... man i love zip ties ... electrical and duct tape lol \:\)

They don't kink up as bad as regular cable drowners IMO. Because you can pull the cable really tight. The regular style you get a coon hung up 1/2 way down sometimes if he gets it kinked and twisted. They don't cost much more than regular drowners either. Just the cost of a camlock and a couple extra ferrels.

thanx ADC ... im thinkin more and more of goin to the cables ... or rods .... its just a pain to rig up many slide systems here with rocks, roots, etc .... sumtimes impossible to get ANY stake in much less sumthin that will hold a critter .... granted .... on the larger slower streams many times a drownin rig is no big deal ... but ya know what i mainly trap for and why i trap where i trap ... lmao

once I started went with cables I will never go back to stakes..granted there is a place for everything...I use 3/32 cable for all my rigs..Feed sacks and a few rocks tie off to a tree or use some good fence staples with a quicklinkput the trap and slide cable in the bag riged up with one stake and ready to go...can set alot out in no time
