I'm usually all done by the end of Feb, but most of these guys are still looking great. I called in a cross the other day that had a rat tail so he got a pass and I saw a red by Swampy acres a few days ago that was starting to rub so I don't have much longer.

This pretty girl was immaculate...

Here are two on the boards I picked up in lynx sets yesterday and a couple others from last week..they still look decent a little thin in the shoulders and butt but not bad.

Can't believe it. First Swans showed up yesterday morning when it was -5. They must of known this warm front that just hit was coming as its +29 now.

YJ,
They do still look pretty good! I usually pick up a few like that even during the early season. I pulled the last few snares I had left out today. Spring has sprung here and this place is going to turn into a 4 foot deep slush puddle in a day or two. I'm ready for the snow to go away and the fish to start now.

Anyone know how much Crude Oil and Natural Gas Alaska produces each day and how much of that is actually consumed in Alaska ?

I am wondering if, and I know it's a BIG IF !! but if they end up bringing Natural Gas powered cars to a broader production , would it be cheaper to run vehicles up there on Natural Gas . This would be assuming that the Government gave some incentive to purchase a home Natural Gas refueling station. At the cost that I see regular gas going for up there, it would seem to be a good idea in areas that have gas piped into their homes.

We have several trillion cubic feet of Natural Gas here. Our distribution system is- and probably always will be- our Achilles heel. Natural gas is piped in /available in some communities now though.

Southeast has no NG infrastructure. Either way we won't benefit. However, we do have some hydro for electricity.

CB,
The natural gas produced has mainly gone to the heating and electric generation for ANC area, mat-su, kenai.
They have been adding to the delivery system, someday Spek might be able to hook up to a fnacy nat gas heater.

There has also been export of LNG to japan / asia. the contract expired, but after the tsunami they started delivering again. I seem to recall that they inked another LNG contract, but not 100% sure.

Our nat gas is high priced. For some reason we don't realize the henry hub pricing here..... the evil companies get a higher price, stupid regulators....

they also are going to start having natural gas storage in an old well down in Kenai. Pump in the gas in the summer when demand is low, so that we have it in the winter when it is in high demand. It will help to reduce the needle peak and excess demand pricing costs.

AKPP said that the system is a "sore spot". It kind of is. Because electric generation uses nat gas and so does 99% of all heating in the area, when it is very cold out, and people are using gas and electric like crazy, the system is at about 99% capacity. Demand and # of consumers has increased, and the delivery system is nearing its max output point.

It is possible that with one small problem on a very cold streak, that residents will be asked to conserve, so that demand can be met and electric can still be generated.

What would be beneficial would be a gas line from the north slope to valdez where they could export LNG...
off that spurs to Fbks, so they can stop ruining the environment with wood stoves, and having to truck LNG from Anc, or use diesel for electric gen,
and then a spur line to Anc.

If the gov't and hippies would stop obstructing gas production and exploration in cook inlet, we would have more gas...

I hate hippies...

Some??? lol.....

juneau is going to have the cheapest electric rates in the state and cheaper than most of the country for the next 30-50 years.....

and it is all renewable, clean power..........

(funny thing is that Hippies(which i hate) are all for green power, until their rates go up 2 cents a kWh. then they cry)

The hippies love hydro in SE, but they fight tooth and nail to keep from building interties to connect all the towns in SE to it. Would rather have all the towns run expensive deseil generators instead of allowing them to run transmittion lines. Total BS.

The term "Pony tail" applies only to women. On men it's referred to as
a "horse's tail".
