I never pre-bait or ever found a reason to consider it, prefer to always catch the canine on its first visit to a new set and a new smell completely unaware. Ace

I did alot of prebaiting back in the 80's when I had more time. The main benefit from prebaiting is finding the very active areas/hotspots that allows you to catch twice the amount of fur with half the amount of traps. It can also prove very helpfull in an area with heavy competition when targeting fox/coon.When a animal makes checking your prebaited area a part of its routine there is less chance of it stumbling across someone elses set.

I agree 100% with Asa. I have tried it on canines and found it to be a waste of time.

we can't do any prebaiting until the middle of Nov. because it holds the Bears in tight. the middle of nov. is when coyote season starts so you might as well be setting.

I prebait my marginal farms and spots I have to trap animals away from there normal travel routes. Prebaiting works better for me on fox than coyotes.

I tried it and I won't bother with trying it again. Instead, go out and find or create the exact spots to make your sets.

I dont pre bait much but it sure helps. Fox will check it out on their way through the area till they get caught.
