hey everybody. i was down on the russian last weekend. i caught a few trout and had a great time. i even had a little three year old black bear walk right up next to me and sniff my leg right by the truck. on the way back i fished quartz creek from a pull off. i didn't get anything but i was reading somewhere that there were some dollies in there. should i go from the bridge for them? i would just like to have an option if the russian gets too crowded for me next weekend.

Just got the new ATA mag. What a great article by Marty Meierotto. The picture of his face covered in ice is awsome. Kind of looks like Hannible Lector! grin

How early are you guys taking your beaver for personal use for sewing mits, mucks, etc? On the Yukon river, we are having some ice on the ponds in the mornings at 24 degrees, back up to 50 during the day in mid sept....hard to get to our beaver in winter though on the sloughs due to thick ice OR everyone CLAIMS that 50 miles of the sloughs are theirs for the last 50 years...Most, NOT ALL, of them never trap it..go figure...BUT, we do have a couple of HARD working men that do alot and put their butts on the line on the sloughs with over flow, deep snow, etc, gotta respect these guys and put in a word for them!!! Tough son of a guns!

I like to wait till the end of October. Otterman works them in October apparently and is happy with them. I never worked them that early.
