I was sitting on a hill with my friend and the badger started running towards us so we shot it and it ran into a hole about 10 feel below me on the hill that I had never noticed

The best place to set a badger trap is in the middle of a gravel road.

If I wanted to take an out of state trip to catch badgers, where would I go? I've got a badger infatuation it seems and I want to go out of state. You will find badgers anywhere in the prairies. But even "high density" badger areas don't have a lot of them. I think most trapped badgers are probably caught incidentally in dirtholes or flat sets.

You can target them easily after a fresh snow, you can see where they cleared their tunnels out from a mile away by the fresh dirt on top of the snow. track em after you see the dirt and see what hole they are in for the night. Set the trap and you got them with in a couple of days depending on the temprature.. I love it when it happens that way!

A homeowner shot one the other day on Montgomery Co. , Ohio. Badgers are protected in Ohio. He shot it trying to get in his chicken coop, I heard...not sure what they did about it. Protected or not will the state pay for the loss of chickens ?
