do a search for snow trapping. We have had multiple threads on this already, with lots of people giving some great advice.

Set locations will change some. Move to locations that burn off some of snow. This might mean a whole new location or just moving a few feet, to the other side of the tree or to a slight rise with some sun exposure. If your traps are buried in the ground use salt or waxed dirt to stop the ground from freezing. If cat trapping use exposed traps (salt under coilsprings) and pick your locations wisely \:\)
Oh and hard work is part of the winter trapping deal \:\)

Spruce trees really hold up the snow.lots times not much under them for snow at all.I will set under them,Lots times the uphill side of most other trees has less also. Will put a bait below and the trap on the up side and catch as a walk around
For marten in high snow I make the set closer to the trail so they can travel through the snow and not you to check it let them do the deep snow work.UNLESS someone else uses that trail then I bite the bullet and walk off the traveled portion.
I will also put sets under bridges for marten and mink on either end of the bridge

have you used the exposed set? the snow will not bother it.

If you have evergreens there, set under those. I have a few trapping spots that have just a few evergreens in the timber, and every single cat that comes through, walks under all of the evergreens. I dont know why but they just like hunting them or something.

With as little snow as that, and given where you live, with likely thaw/freeze cycle to come, I'd probably sweep the snow away from the trap location and use waxed dirt or antifreeze.

If you are setting for cats, I would sweep the snow away and make a loud set with some dirt brushed away with the snow. 6" isint a big deal. What ever set you make, just brush away the snow. Also set under ledges and junipers or other conifers where there isnt snow.
