When it comes to the belly area I will put the pelt off the beam and lay it on top with the belly up. I will then flesh out the belly area. I have found by fleshing the belly this way I tear them less. After that is all done we have a properly fleshed coyote. Hope this helps...Jason

Bravo, very nice.
Thanks for taking the time and posting the pictures with the write up.
I like how you use the sawdust to clean up the edge areas.

An added tip on the sewing, if you go under over on the sewing, your hole will butt up with out bunching or making a lump on either side.
Instead of going from flesh side to other side of flesh side. Go from flesh side to the fur side and come thru to the flesh side, then go back to the other fur side and come thru the flesh side, just pull together tight, not over tight, as when you pelt drys out it will be much flatter.
It makes for a much better seam and also is much harder to feel when a buyer runs their hands over the area.

Nice looking fleshing job. How long does it take you to flesh one? Thanks Jim If I have one that is not giving me any fits I can have it fleshed in about ten minutes. However, there is usually a hole to deal with or some burrs that need to be combed out. I would say that my average is around 20 minutes.

Thanks for the sewing lesson. Are you using floss or something else? Also, Been meaning to get sawdust. It works better for sure. Waxed dental floss

I cut mine close, I scrap a lil bit of fat off, any excess, and stretch the hide, I dont scrape them like that. Fur buyers are always saying how good they look Maybe you can put together a tutorial so I can see how you are putting up your coyotes so you do not have to scrape them so much.

I do everything about the same as you, with one exception. I do the sewing after washing, because it is so much easier to sew and to tell how much trimming on the hole when the fur is wet. Good job!

Can't wait to hear those trap chains rattling!
