Here's a pictorial. They are pretty crude/simple.
1) You need a simple bucket. I purchased mine from my fur buyer. He sells them for 220's. Cat litter buckets have the perfect lid. Lid is essential. They will knock your bucket over every time.

2) I punch a hole in the side of the bucket with a hammer and a screwdriver. Then use a skill saw to cut out an eye shape in the bucket 2-3 inches from the bottom.

3) I add a little camo to my bucket just in case a two legged critter happens to be in the area. Then you just fill up with cat food, and they reach their little paws in as they grab the food. You also want to attach your bucket to a tree or something sturdy. I found out the hard way they will carry off your bucket, and had to go swimming for it.

Hope that makes it pretty clear.

Nice pics but I would ask you this.. You said you got those pics the first night. That leads me to believe that if you had put out a gang set of dps would you really have had to go through 10 pounds of cat food? Just asking since I already know you have coon there. LLL

Good question. When I began putting the feeders out my intention was to draw as many coon into one small area as I could. I knew there were coon there, but I wanted them all coming to the exact same area so I can do just as you say, gangset with DPS. Due to time constraints and working I didn't want to walk say half a mile of crick every morning with traps down it. I was hoping to draw them into a central location where I can set a large number of traps and check quickly. I have found that the families are there every night together, and then there are the loners that are coming thru on their own. The loaners weren't at my cameras when I began this journey, and that leads me to believe I am attracting coons from other sites at the location. The feeders have worked well enough at these places where I intend on trapping while still working, that I decided about 3 weeks prior to my vacation that I will bait at the moment 10 locations. It in theory will make for an easy 4-5 coons at these locations with DPS and then I can still expand outward with further traps at the location where I am at when I have the entire day to trap.

i have been using a different type of 5 gallon bucket to feed some coons. i'll check my cameras this weekend and ill see if i have any good pics. i made my bucket to hold 4 DP's during the season, but that might be too much and not work.

You will find that those that you are drawing in will be moving through any ways. The bait is not the reason either in my opinion. LLL

The bear will shread a bucket with bait in it by me. I use hollow logs with ply wood drilled on the ends. I notice when the corn gets ripe they stop hitting my bait hard.

That's a good possibility, and I respect your opinion. I'm going to keep cameras on the first four right up until I put the traps in, so I should know if they are still coming.....Even if they are just moving through I can't see how it would hurt. The one feeder is on a property the lady informed me she had coons on July 4th in broad daylight eating her cat food off the porch (hence why she asked I take care of them). Hopefully they hang around, if not I am still enjoying watching their patterns, feeding tendencies etc.

I will be there Saturday as it stands now...we all enjoy coon season, even if we are not taking any fur yet. The only reason I am not setting out any feeders is because I raise chickens and don't want coon here. I will drive a few miles and set up a couple in early November. Again, keep this thread alive every so often. Thanks again. Tom

i talked briefly with Murse1986 through PM's. and here's my own coon feeder..

i started with a 5 gallon bucket and lid. i cut 4\four 1 1/4 inch holes in the bucket. 1 1/4 is the same diameter of some DP's. originally i had used zip ties to hold some PVC pipe in the bucket, but that proved less then productive. i filled the entire bucket up with cheap cat food, marshmallows, left over coon kibbles and some Dollar Store maple syrup. the entire bucket was cleaned out in less than a month. i had coons visiting all night, every night. the bucket was staked down in the middle of the bucket, but i will have to change that, so the bucket won't spin or be tipped over. i want to zip tie some DP's in the bucket and hope catch some coons that way. here's a few pics:
