Look at 5" corrugated pipe to make your own tunnels to go for those traps.

I have some 6" PVC I was going to try with my 5" RBG. Have you ever used them and did they work?

I could be wrong but I think they stopped making RBG conibear which is a shame if they did . True they are or where over priced for the simple fact there a much more easy trap to build and take way less steel as well . True they sure miss a lot critters when pushed up tight to a den hole because for some reason they deflect different off the solid of the den . Other then that there great trap for setting on runs or used on trails and do miss less used that way over sq . Under water is where they really shine because the round is fast under water and they fit in runs better to like for beaver and muskrat . For baited conibear sets under ice for muskrats that 160 has a much better catch rate then square or board sets . For PVC if you put it under water the mink wil spot the hole and dive in swim threw it that's a old long liners trick but above water you'll find few mink willing to go in a conibear inside a PVC pipe or box . Set them on the mink trails then pull the grass over them making a tunnel but always set atleast two but four is better . Douples very common setting like this and if one happens to make it threw one most likely he won't get lucky twice

A person on another forum was using them. He put a trap on either end of a two foot piece and buried the middle of the pipe with debre. Looked like a natural tunnel with springs hanging out.

I have a couple of the 3 1/2 inch ones used to block the top bank holes...work very well...they also shine where a mushrat has been frozen out of the water and is living in snow tunnels...I have had them go around a square traps but so far never the round ones....kinda pricey to build a large inventory of though

what's the best way to stabilize the large round bodgrippers? I know they work with the tall H-stands, how about stakelizers, etc?

I think they still make them. I know FandT had 220 and 330 sizes. I had to do some serious digging to find ones the right size for mink. I found 5" ones on Molnar outdoors. I also found ones in 160 size on another site. The 5" ones cost $15 a piece. I didn't get the 3.5" ones because i didnt know if they would be big enough. I guess i could have gotten them and saved some money. oh well the 5" ones will fit in the PVC I have perfectly. Glad to hear that they work well.

CMT was the maker, they are out of production. Once the current stocks are sold, good luck getting any. Unless a new manufacturer picks them up. I bought a handful of the 7-12" sizes just to have for beaver and otter. Also go the 5x5's for coon boxes.

I see, that would explain why they were a pain to find. Guess I should have gotten a few more.

That's a surprise as the maker lives a few miles from me and I never heard he was quiting. Go over to Trappers for Freedom at http://trappersfreedom.proboards.com and ask there he hangs out on that board.

I just got the traps in the mail. seem like a quality trap that will catch some fur. something about the round shape just seems like it would be more inviting for animals to enter. I dont think Ill be ordering anymore anytime soon. My wife saw the receipt that came in the box frown

Bill is a good dude. As far as the RBGs being easy to make??? Are you kidding me?? You should see the small shop he labors in. He also works full time and volunteers for the ISTA a bunch. He probably just didn't have time to make them anymore.

They appear to be back in production.

and I think MB carries them, too
Anyone have experience using these? They sure look a lot more natural and inviting than the square jaws

The company was bought up recently. Can't think of who bought it, but seen it advertised on youtube.

Salty but don't those round entrances look so much more natural and inviting than the square jaw? Someone somewhere must have experience with these.

I've got two of the 110 sized round bg. And I can't say they work any better than square bg, but they did catch rats/mink. They do blend in pretty good on dry trail sets though. Strong little buggers.

WCS has the 2.5" model for $11.75 and the 3.5 for $11.95.

I have the 3.5" and the trigger pressure is so high I don't think a mink could set it off. I haven't tried lowering it yet.

would you slightly round out the trigger notch to lighten the pressure?

I’ve got one in the 110 size made by Seldom. It too has a stiff trigger and I have not tried to adjust it. I set it at the end of this season in a 24” double wall tile ( smooth on the inside ) along with a 160 on the other end. I covered the tile with long grass, put dirt and other debris in the bottom of the pipe and canned cat food for bait. I caught a double on opossum the first night and a big sow coon a couple of nights later. The coon and the opossum were both caught right behind the ears with very little disturbance at the set .

It’s only fair to mention that I did have a miss with this trap on the last day of season. The cable was pulled all the way out ( 4’ ) and from all appearances had a large coon pull out !

Thanks for the report, Golf. These round traps are intriguing. The high retail cost is a deterrent. The pull-out is interesting, too, because usually when coon get a leg caught in a conibear style trap, they are held there. Probably due to those straight jaws across the leg. The round jaws would give the animal some freedom to torque and bend its leg, and eventually slide it around. Hmmmmmmm

Don't do much mink trapping but did set a RBG 160 on a mink trail and got this buck mink a couple weeks ago

I have 5 differnt sizes from 2.5 " to a big 440 size. I bought them for ADC work. The 160
And 22o size are killer in woodchuck den holes, paid for all my RBGs with one woodchuck job in less than a week

I really like them

There was a thread a month or so ago about a new guy making them now

I used the 160 size when trapping coon In trails. Worked as good or better then the 160 square type.
They just blend In so much better then the square ones. There Is nothing In nature that Is square.
The only problem Is you have to chase the springs around.

If you have a stiff trigger issue just use a wax carpenters pencil on the trigger system. Or If your careful you can start the trigger. When you do this the trigger will hang a bit loose and will give when a critter pushes against It. And of coarse It will go off with less pressure.

Have you tried the 440's on beaver?I bought some last spring but never got a chance to use them.Other than chasing the springs around the jaws I think they'd be quite a trap.I always set 330's by hand but I bought a setter after buying these.
