not a problem, mine leaks a little but since i use a double boiler system its not a issue.

If you use it on a gas stove you might melt the solder and galvinizing out of the joints. Then it will leak and could start a fire.

Been using my 3 gallon one for years, no problem. But of corse like was said above dont get it too hot & it better not have any leaks.

Thanks for the responses. I have a two burner electric stove I think I'll use and just keep upping the heat til the wax melts.

That is the only kind I have ever used. Ijust bought a new 8gallon that fits my fish cooker burner perfect. I put the dye and wax together. This allows me to dye them and pull them though the wax in one step.

Grubstake,
I was wondering if the double-boiler would get the wax hot enough. Seems it would be a lot safer if it would.
