Looking at getting some new receipt/contract forms and I am looking for what your preferences are. Thanks.

Triple for me, 1 for them, 1 for me, and 1 for extra

A trap is only a trap if you dont know about it. If you know about it, its a challenge

triple for me also, one for them at the start, one for them at the finish and one for my files. a local mom&son print shop does three part, double sided in two colors for about $70 per 100.

I am big on the single receipt/contract. I write it out, give it to the customer, and if he is lucky, at my age I forget all about it by the time I get to the next customer's house.

This accounts for a lot of repeat business. We don't make any profit but customers are always smiles from ear to ear when they see me!

3 copies. One for the initial bid or beginning of a job. Then the final copy given upon completion of services. You keep the original copy.

Zero copies, all done on the tablet and stored in the "cloud"

I used to use two copies and it was great. Customer got one and I got the other.

Problem came when I decided about every 6 to 12 months that I wanted to change something on the form and then had to reorder.

Now it is a single copy and the customer gets a copy emailed to them when I get home or if they want to scan it on their computer I am more than happy to let them do that as well.

Throwing around the idea of going paperless and just using the tablet.

Once I nailed down my service agreement, which evolved over a few years, I had them printed in duplicate form and number stamped for easy tracking. However, there is a box that can be checked that states "additional terms may apply". If needed I can insert a carbon paper between the two copies and hand write the additional terms on the back.

All communication including bids for us is through email. We send pdf of invoice, pdf of proposal (including inspection photos) and when the work is complete (exclusion work) they get a document showing before and after photos to complete the deal along with warranty info all of which was included on the proposal).

I have very few clients, even elderly clients who don't have email. I have had a few that want me to send them a paper invoice, so that pdf just gets printed and sent off to them in the mail.

I have horrible hand writing so any written forms would be ghastly, honestly!

Justin

I send some invoices as a pdf as well. I have a place on the service agreement that lets them choose between paper invoices or email. It seems to be about a 50/50 split.

We service many jobs for customers without computer tech abilities or equipment, so paper contracts apply to alot of our work still.

If you've been doing it in anything other than triple, in Ohio, you'd be doing it wrong !

What Dave Salys said. We generally use 2-piece forms, except when I'm billing and don't expect immediate payment. Then, customer gets one copy for his records and one to mail with the check. In my world, if it isn't recorded/signed, it didn't happen!
