I am thinking about trying for bobcat this year and was wondering if any of the PA guys or bobcat guys in general have any advice for traps, sets, lures, etc... I am slowly combing through the archives and the cats thread, never thought bobcat trapping was that in depth. Thanks for any input!

I am from pa and in the past two years I have caught 14 Bob cats!!! This is what works for me...I will travel lease roads until I cut tracks and either right on the side of the road I will dig a soccer ball size hole in the snow and throw part of a beaver carcass in there and have my trap on a drag... or I will find a dry Calvert and stuff the whole carcass in there and put a trap at both ends

A lot of PA bobcats die due to a culvert set.

I trap in and around high rocky ground! I have caught more bobcats unintentionally than on sets specifically for them.

I have caught cats in Duke #1 1/2 coilsprings set for fox using mice for bait and KATZ Bros 1800 Predator, also caught cats in Duke #2 coilsprings using beaver meat based baits and diced up rabbit backstrap bait again using 1800 predator that were set for coyote.

I have released 4 bobcats in 3 days so far this season! Hoping they hit my sets again come Dec 21.

My best set is a cubby set a cave like set using pine branches, trap placed at the entrance. bait placed in back of the cubby, castor based lures and the use of bobcat urine. I also caught 2 at dirt hole baited with rabbit. But I prefer beaver as bait but also had deer work too. I prefer fresh bait over stinky bait. Good luck!
