I got the squirrel job. They were pleased with my work. I made a bid for the clean up work and got it. What is a good hepa filter vacuum to purchase? This is my first clean up job. This will be the first of many. (I hope)

I own a dewalt hepa 10 gallon 1.5 hp vac. 550.00 works great

For previous discussions on this subject, type hepa in the basic SEARCH block. You will find a lot of valuable information.

Coondog, One thing to consider is how much and what type of material you expect to be vacuuming. I have a rigid model hepa vac system and for bat guano and pigeon droppings it rocks.

However, throw in insulation and other debris or find some serious chunks of pigeon droppings and you will find yourself spending more time with the clogged lines then with the vac in operation.

Obviously some folks have larger systems that can pull insulation out as well and larger debris, though higher in cost.

If you are looking for a guano/droppings only vac the smaller units can do some great work, but make sure you think through what
is expected to be pulled in for the size of hose and engine size on the unit.

If I'm taking out all the batt insulation to replace it first and then sucking up all the guano and such, my system works great, but again, weigh
out what you need before spending your hard earned cash.

your pricing should allow for continued expansion,,,,but,,,you can not add additional cost to cover ttl investment of new equipment,,,IF you want the work.....

Just by adding the word "HEPA", companies are able to charge 10 times as much for things like vacs, filters, etc. Hope that works for us too but I doubt it.

The more the public is educated on HEPA thanks to Dyson and other manufacturers of household vacs that weren't around
or not the norm not long ago, the more they understand why the guy about to remove guano or droppings from their attic
should be using one.

This should definitely tie into the bottom line as there is a clear and solid benefit to the client in terms of health risks. We all
know plenty of stories about the standard shop vacuum with no filter or typical paper filter being used within a dwelling or in
an area that makes the air unhealthy for not only the homeowner but the worker.

I don't claim to be a HEPA expert, but I believe anyone doing clean outs on bird, bat, raccoon, and rodents, etc.... should get
as educated as possible. I learn from others in our industry from safety materials and literature and so forth.

Not understanding HEPA, can be a very costly liability (though not all hepa equipment is created equal, from the machine to
the hoses, to the end result in bagging....)

HEPA shouldn't be considered a dirty 4 letter word.
