It would be nice if someone had a pic heavy instruction site in the archives on changing springs on different types.JMO.

O.K. This is one of the simplest operations to do to a trap.

First you'll need a flat blade screwdriver or a tool like mine which is easily made from a piece of an old aluminum arrow shaft.

Dukes are real easy. Just wedge the tool down onto the long part of the spring leg, then pull back and around the lever. With a screwdriver, just wedge it under the spring leg and work it around the levers.

After both springs have been relieved, pull the spring pin assembly out to remove the springs. Replace them in reverse order.

It's very much the same with MB's. The only difference is you'll need to pry the spring leg out some to get the tool onto the leg because the channel the spring rests in is smaller so you cant just work the tool onto it.

My Bridgers have this type of spring with an extra dog leg on the end of the long leg of the spring. I just use the screwdriver on these.

Unfortunately, I can't show the process for longsprings. My vise is out of commission and I can't find my large channel locks. But all you have to do is pop the jaws, remove the springs and then replace them and the jaws in reverse order. Obviously, if you've bubble tipped or bent the jaw tips up, you'll have to grind off the bubble tips or bend the tips back down to remove the jaws.
