Good to see your wolf gear ready to go. I dye mine white as well. Those flats look like some great moose country JR. Good luck this season!

Nice size jack fish! What are you using to dye the traps white?

Thanks guys. I use white oil-based paint mixed with AV100 (av gas) for my dye. Mixed around 50%. I just keep adding the gas until it thins down to where I like it. I put it in a plastic bucket and just dip the traps and shake them around when I pull them up to hang them. I thin the mixture down till it doesn't leave big paint drips on the gear. Avgas mixture seems to evaporate a lot quicker and scent free, very different from Unleaded gas which seems to hold the scent for quite a bit longer. I used to use Coleman fuel but it got so dang expensive although I just bought 5 cases of Coleman fuel for $7 per can of Craigslist. That was a good score.

Flew out to the trapping cabin to work on a trail and look for some lost gear. Nice trip and 16 mile hike down the canyon and back.

When the guys came to pick me up, we went for a few hour sight seeing flight up to the glacier. This was just out of my trapline and some country we've never been. We must have done something right in life for Mother Nature herself let us in to some spectacular vistas in the middle of the day. Been blessed in my life to do and see some really amazing things and places but today was humbling to say the least. The air was smooth and let us fly right on the glacier. I'm not sure I believe in heaven but if there is one, this is the stair steps to the gate. My buddy and pilot had to tell me to take pics because I was just in awe looking. It was pretty funny. We landed and had a snack and a leak, when we took off we went left in one Cub and our buddy went right to look for some wolves. When we saw the glacier, we tried calling him on the radio to get over here. No answer and we tried and tried. I had to laugh and told Dave there is no reception in heaven. We laughed and the saying for the rest of the day was "We took a left to Heaven and Mike went right to (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)"....These are the pics with my little camera. I'll try to post some pics off the good camera later.

Moose season is upon us and haven't been able to put one on the ground yet. Back to work for a week and regroup. Seen a few bulls last week but were further than I was willing to pack by a long shot. Try it again when they are a little more willing to come to a call.

You guys be safe out there and good luck hunting.

Yes, she burnt in 2009. Pretty rough hunting. They appear and disappear just as fast. Should be able to call one of the smaller bulls away from the rest but was a bit early. Almost impossible to walk in for a short legged guy like me.

Man you are one lucky man JR. Very envious of your lifestyle. Beautiful pics of the country you are in. Thanks for sharing. Good luck hunting, and glad to see you are in good health to be able to enjoy it.

Here's a few more pics of Heaven from the good camera.

The pics just do not do this justice or even begin to explain how big this country really is.

Quick questions regarding white dying your traps...
Will any ol oil based paint work? Do you have yo rust/degrease them first? No worry about the paint smell?
Thank you.
