Here is a pcitoral of how I wax my traps.

You can see here the first traps coming out of the wax pot. I hang them over the wax pot to let the drip all excess wax off. I always make sure that I hang them good, so they don't drop back in the pot and splash hot wax every where.

Here I am putting batch #2 in the pot. You can see the first batch still dripping wax.

Here is the fire, my burnner is messed up, so I did not have the good blue flame.

I wire the traps together 12 victor 1 1/2, 6 MB-550, 9 #2 wolfers and 5 MB 650. Wired together like this allows all the traps to be covered in with wax in the pot.

Here I am adding wax to the pot. You can see that the wax I use is not trapper wax. I have 6, 5gal buckets of this wax. It has risen in it to help it stick. And stick it dose. There is not odor of any kind with this wax. If any thing, it may smell like a pine tree.

After they quit dripping the hot wax, I carry them inside and hang them in the fur shed to finish drying to hard.

Don't know, I get it at a box plant up the road. They make wax coated chicken boxes with it. I have been using it for as long as I have been waxing traps. I learned about using it for a now 80 year old trapper.

How long does it typically take the wax to dry?

Thanks

wax is hard in 10 mins. I leave the traps in the hot wax about 5 min to get the metal as hot as the wax so all the excess will run off and leave a thin layer of wax on the trap. The hotter you get the traps, the better it works.
