Well that's novel. Nice to get it up a bit too for comfort. A standard bench has you hunched over.

That is a nice one. A lot heavier than mine. Mine are 16 ga. SS. At first I thought the beaver may slide too much on the slick stainless. However that turned out not to be the case. Only issue I had was the blood running down the trough and onto the floor. A small bead of silicone at each end took care of that.

Les, that looks a lot like the ones dad made. They worked well. One thing he did was not have the boards forming the "V" meet. This gap allowed the blood to drip onto the cardboard under the trough.

I used expanded metal and angle iron. Won't have to make another one either. Had gone through two others made out of wood.

ack, how does the hooks work don't believe i have ever seen hooks used. Got pic how it is used.
I have a trough kind like what Les use, mine sets on a table which puts it at the right working height.

cant remember the name but there was a video on here showing a clean skin method by a guy i believe was in alaska. he used fish hooks to hold the legs and a hand garden shovel to push the fat on the sides. i use wires attached to the far side of the table. the beauty is you can do this on the tailgate of your truck as well. maybe someone will find that video and post a link.

I built one like your Dad's years ago that he showed how to make in one of his books. Still use it every year and it works as good as ever.

I'm almost positive it was family trapper.

I've always wanted one on a Lazy Susan, that I could spin around but haven't figured out how to put it all together yet.

Merganser, my trough spins. I just mounted it on a second hand swiveling bar stool that was the perfect height. I bet I have skinned over a thousand beavers on it. I love staying in one spot while I skin. Can't imagine doing it any other way now.
