I was going to flesh and stretch an otter tonight. the otter is still damp. does it need to be nice and dry before strething or can it be damp. If damp is fine is there an issue on how damp?

I presume you are saying the fur side is damp. Shouldn't be a problem like that. You can wring it out if there is excess moisture in it, but beyond that just throw it on the stretcher and it will dry just fine.

Thanks for replying Clark, I was afraid it would get matted if it was damp.

Ron, actually its better to have the fur damp on otter when you flesh, mink and otter fur singe easily( you can singe them by rubbing the fur when its dry) as long as its just damp when you put it on the board then it will be ok

Make sure you put a belly board in if using a solid stretcher. If a adjustable you dont have to.
