Anyone ever drill and bolt on baseplates and jaw lams? Any downside to doing this? I don't have access to a welder to do lots of work, but I do have a drill press and an reasonably good at shaping/fabricating steel.

it'll work fine if you dont mind flat lamination strips, as theyre alot heavier. if youre 4 coiling it wont make much difference anyway.

You can also pop rivet them on.I did some that way about 15 years ago.Charles Dobbins told me to try it a NTA convention.Cumberland trapper supply sells bolt on lamination strips.I weld all mine but have been thinking about bolt on for some new #5 coils.Yes it will work is it the best proably not but its fast. Hay I forgot my #5 bridger baseplates are popriveted on they worked fine last spring

Pop rivets, great idea. I was stuck on nuts and bolts.
