I have a cat on a board Most of the leather is dried Except 2 spots under the armpits and behind the ears. The ears have been tuned wit cartlidge removed. Can I turn the hide? Mybe a little borax around the trouble spots? Thanx much

Probably can, the belly wedge should allow enough air circulation to dry out those "arm pits". If you wait until those are as dry as the rest you might have a devil of a time turning your cat.
What I do is take the "tube" from a roll of paper towels and stuff them into the arm holes and hang my cat so the fan blows directly on them. You will have to split your tubes and re roll them, but no big deal. I cut them in half, split at the seam of the roll (spiral effect), and stuff. Sometimes you have to pin them up so they stand straight out. I did one that way last night when I turned a large tom. This morning everything is in good shape.

A "half truth" is still a whole lie.

It works for me partner. When it comes to putting up cats, a cat is a cat regardless of the geography.
Something else I do that helps some what in the cosmetics. When I turn that cat, I will put a few droplets (about quarter size) of laquer thinner on a shop rag and wipe the cat down with it (the fur). You would be suprised at how much dirt comes out of the fur, and how much better the fur fluffs and shines (especially the bellies).
This works really well on fox and yotes as well. Some of my "dingy belly" KY yotes actually have white bellies, you just can't see that (and neither can the buyer) unless you either wash them or rub them down with thinner.

IF you are shipping to NAFA, they want the legs tucked INSIDE the skin when turned. Plenty of borax will keep thing from going bad. I also put cats on the board fur out from the get go. I use a total of four 3/8 inch dowels, two on the back and two on the belly to lift the skin off of the board and allow air circulation.

I use old water hose, I cut them to about 8 inches and slide them in and turn them up so you can see the belly. It dries out real good that way and the fur buyer likes it to. m/o Dave

Good deal Bill.

mark, that laquer thinner trick is something new. I wonder if it cleans and whitens any better than borax?

ruger1965 & Cameron2, thanks very much for the nice words about the videos. \:\)

I don't see all the posts made here at Paul's site, but nice comments always make me feel good about helping out with information.
