I put up around 25 skunks per season and if you use a syringe and acetone you shouldn't have any smell thus no reason to wash or air out. If you need more info, PM me

Yeah, just dispatch them with acetone. Very quick, and easy. Cut out the glands, and skin without worry of them smelling.

Yup...usually little to no smell if you syringe them. I skin them "loaded" and pull the essence when done.

i skin all mine and they pay pretty good , groney gave me 8$ this year and a few hit 12$ at nafa last year. been doing the acetone job also and saves alot of essence for the bottle and keeps my co-workers from crying.

Here is a vid I posted on a skunk dispatch thread awhile back. Hope this helps you out some. I use 12cc of acetone.

Very nicely done. I haven't caught one yet, but I think their fur is real nice, and would definately want to skin it. I'll have to make a pole. Do you come in from the side with the needle, behind the shoulder, or try to roll them onto their side to get at the front of the chest?

It depends on the skunk as to what angle i get for the shot. I prefer the front angle between the front legs and just under the throat. If the skunk is real docile the side shot is just as easy. Here is a pic of my syringe setup. 16 ga. needle and an extendable painters pole.

Is that a bottle cap off a plastic coke bottle holding the syringe to the painter pole?

Yep, thats what it it. That way I can take the syringe off when not using it. So it don't get broke.

Mouth wash is great to get the skunk smell off the dog . I would think it would on the skunk pelt . I never tried it on the skunk . I don't do them up for 5 bucks .Not worth my time

Keep it simple and
If it aint broke don't fix it

if i have a oops , like when my wife shoots one and toss's it in the freezer when i'm gone . {not as funny as it sounds} i just put a foot hold on them and stake them in a creek for a day in moving water. seems to get most of the smell out.
