Sounds like you're off to a good start Ryan! How has your weather been, cold? During my guiding I saw more lynx sign than ever before so Im betting you do really well with them this year. My youngest daughter and her husband bought the line east of me and they flew out a few weeks back. They plan to spend the winter there. They have an Inreach so we can communicate and they are seeing a lot of marten sign. My son has been having fun with wolves, he snared two a couple days ago, so Im feeling left out! Gotta get out soon! Hope you have a good season, did you noggin shoot some caribou for the winter yet??

We had cold weather early and freeze up was nice and clean. Then one night it started snowing and it stayed snowy warm and overcast for about ten days. Then about week to ten days ago it got down to the mid teens and it’s been since. Pretty sure I could easily make it to the camp so I may go and set for Marten and wolf this weekend. I’m seeing lots of fur sign all fall. Lots of rabbit and mice tracks out there too. I got a few caribou in September but lost a couple weeks to being sick. We still have a few meals put away but not as much as usual. We ate the last tongue last night with fried meat. I’m getting a few sets out but no big rush on going full steam just yet.

So happy the kids came to lynx traps today. Amazing how fast a guy with a hyperextended arm can finish a moose when he’s worried about kids getting cold. The town wolves should find the guts pretty quick.

Went up to Mount Lang today to look for those Facebook caribou Could not find them but saw about 20 moose. Finally found a calf that was not running away. Tried to pump in a shell but gun was frozen. Getting dark so leave it until next time. Need a blizzard 9500 to cover up some of them willow back s so can make it to Bear Creek.

Marten with an undeveloped arm. Skinned picture shows little foot bones and two blunt claws. Poor picture I know but I’m using an iPad.

Was the moose a bull? I was not sure if yours have dropped their horns yet. I was checking traps Wednesday morning at daylight and came right up on a nice bull still wearing his horns.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness

Trail to my camp is made! I spent Saturday and Sunday doing camp work that I would normally do in the fall with my boat. Since I didn’t make it out this year thanks to pneumonia I had to play catch up. Hauled wood, shoveled cabin roofs, banked the log house and tried to fish for bait but the creek seems to be poor for hooking these past two years. I’m happy though and I’ll get my bait this week. Next trip is strictly for setting. Hoping to get at least 60 sets in next weekend. Maybe one of the three wolverine boxes will connect. Hopefully catch the one that chewed half the front wall off my house at goose camp.

I hate reality television, but I would love watching your life on an outdoor channel. You have a gift for story telling like Russell Annabel.

Just got home riding as a passenger on my dads skidoo. A busted clutch ruined my weekend of setting but at least I opened a few new trails on Saturday before the clutch exploded and took out half my belly pan. Good promising sign all over my lines. Got the 570 wt for the next couple days and I'll fix my ace before the weekend.
