I have one. I am not a pro. But it works well in places where I can not set other traps.

I have never done well with any type of float set for rats for control or fur trapping in these parts. There are many other options for equipment to catch rats at least in our state. Pole sets are very productive from sudden valley aside from conibears and drowner coilspring traps.

I'm with Bob on this one. If I took all the time I wasted building and using cage floats, I could probably do something useful. My

next muskrat in a float set will be my first.

I have both models and have had success with them. For me, they haven't worked overnight in ponds or lakes (it has always taken 14+ days for me) like colony traps have, but they are better than nothing. I believe they work best in marsh areas where you don't have a lot of bank dens, but these sites are very limited in my area so I'm not about to say that I've tested this theory. What I can say is that I've had more success with them than any other type of floating muskrat trap or even floating foothold/foothold support sets I've used.

Also, they are a nice object for the client to see so they know you are working on the problem versus not being able to see anything. Like most equipment along these lines, they aren't for every muskrat call, but when you have the right situation at hand, they are a good tool to have.
