I'll start with a few I likeó

"A coyote has all the time in the world and learns very quickly." - Clint Locklear

"I can't quit. They can't make me quit. I don't care how cold it gets." - Blackie

And two more. These were posted somewhere on T-man. I can't remember where but I wrote them down when I read them.

"Pork cracklings have been the death of many foxes." - Swamp Wolf

"Trapping really is a terminal illness. Once you start it follows you to your death bed." - beaver trapper

"Can't skin excuses". OGorman as far as I know.
"Can't catch what's not there". Anybody who has ever trapped yotes in a low population cycle.

If a location is good for one set, it's good for two or three sets.

Traps in back of the truck won't catch anything. Go put em in the ground!

A snapped trap at least tells you the set was in the right place and was interesting to something that came by. You did that much right.

Location, location, location.

To the man that has never followed the trails of the trapline, I can only say, "You have missed much." You will find him rich in health, happiness, and the things in life that are most worthwhile, and mellow with the memories of a life in the great, clean outdoors. Ah, for the life of a millionaire say some; but just let me stay a trapper. -Bill Nelson

Giardia has two stages.
The first stage is: You think you are going to die.
The second stage is: You hope that you die.
I heard this one from Trapper Dick Baxendale. Anyone heard of him? I am sure there are many who have met him and not soon forget it.

Never met him Carl, but I have had Giardia and I'll say that's about right!

Can't forget ole Del Gue from Jeremiah Johnson!

"Ain't this somethin'? I told my pap and mam I was coming to the mountains to trap and be a mountain man. Acted like they was gut-shot. Says, "son, make your life go here. Here's where the peoples is. Them mountains is for animals and savages." I said, "Mother Gue, the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world." And by God I was right."

"I ain't never seen 'em, but my common sense tells me the Andes is foothills, and the Alps is for children to climb! Keep good care of your hair! These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here! And there ain't no priests excepting the birds. By God, I are a mountain man, and I'll live 'til an arrow or a bullet finds me. And then I'll leave my bones on this great map of the magnificent . . ."
