So a coon hunter the other day said he was getting 10-12 dollars for coon he averaged about 6 dollars a coon. Is anyone else getting these prices?

Seeing as Missouri is the show-me-state, he'd have to show me his receipt, until then I will call him a liar. Or he has found the worst fur buyer ever, in which case we need to find out who that is asap. lol

Wait a minute. The math isn't working for me.

First you say he was getting 10-12 dollars for coon. Then you say he averaged 6 dollars. Was the 10-12 the top price?

How many coon did he sell? One at $10.00 and one at $2.00 is a $6.00 average.

Is there a meat market in Missouri? MAybe he had a special order.

Talk is cheap.

Not in MO but just below y'all. Fur buyer told me he would take every coon I caught. Told me to leave three dollars with each one for disposal fee. Not looking promising down here.

I avoided them, and the ones I did catch, they didn't get a ride home. Best I heard was $4 top for Green, so I would assume $6 for finished, good clarity 3XLs. When I catch 50+ I'm lucky to have 2 coons like that, it's why I avoided them.

Ohio - Buyer told me $4-$5 for "big uns". $3,$2,$1 from there. That's put up.

A friend sold 36 last Friday to GWF
10 were 2xxl and 26 were bigger
2 5xxl at $16
14 3-4xxl at $12
20 others of mixed size, color and damage averaged $7.10 for a $9.50 average for all 36

These were caught early to mid November. I put up several of these and their is a big drop for 2xxl, color and this year we seem to have more ticks than I have seen in many years, even YOY had bite marks and holes.

wissmiss,
I was wondering the same thing. I think maybe they do math a little differently in MO. I'd like to see an equation where let's say you sold one coon for $10, one coon for $11, and one coon for $12, will result in an average of $6 per coon.

You know what the old saying is...the only time a coon hunter is telling the truth is when he calls another coon hunter a liar. grin

Please post his name and phone number. Many would like to contact him and give him a commission for selling for those prices. Sounds like a typical coon hunter blowing smoke to a trapper cause he can not keep up. See it all the time.

I'm not paying commission on a $6 avg.

Better question to ask is where is this buyer. We lost Viers and Ropps after last season and I haven't heard of anyone buying in the Northwest or North Central part of the state.
