I was curious if the door springs on spring door traps ever get too weak? If so, how easy are they to replace?

I'd be interested in a pattern too.

As far as fox, a lot of them are caught in cage sets made for cats anyway so other than putting it in a different location where fox are found, I'd guess you could use the same set.

Check out Cameron2. He catches plenty of fox in cages. There are some pics on the first page of this thread.

this is a yancy cage and hard to beat,i like the drop down doors because the other style are sometimes set off when a big tom hits his back on the door, but ya gotta use what ever suits you..this is just my opinion and nothing else

So I've been doing A LOT of thinking about that double door cat trap on the 2nd page. I'm thinking about making a few of these and perminately setting them up in the high country. Before and after season I'd have to secure the doors open.

I'm thinking I can pack it in in pieces and assemble it on site.

Some questions:

What kind of paint? Rustoleum? This has got to stand up to the elements year-round. Also, what would the best thing to use to tie all sides together? 14 or 12 gauge wire?

Your thoughts?

live trap,I use to dissasemble these traps between sets but got in the habit of just laying one across my shoulders and going.they are handy when you have a bunch to move to lay each panel down then both doors on top an fasten together.
when putting these together I just doulbe a piece of bailing wire.wire door top center and bottom, sides also in three spots.never lost a cat once the doors shut.
I do leave a few of our traps in the woods yearound.I move them away from the actual set and use heavy gage wire to wire to rock or tree just to make it alot of work for someone to get away with.I have never painted one, just never felt a reason to

Thanks guys. I'll look into the regs part but I don't ever remember seeing anything the dozens of times I've scoured CA regs.
