Mines in too. Slightly edited with no change in dates. I figure trading a day off the front for a week in back is a good investment.

Hope something works out

Submitted the two resolutions, discussion was good. Brought up Moosetrot's Van Loon's bottoms beaver/otter question, hope we did okay.

I noticed there was a question on muskrat season on the ballot. I wasn't expecting it. I wonder if that question satisfied some of your interests.

The WTA unanimously voted NO on that resolution at the spring meeting in March.

If you don't mind my asking, what was the question?

QUESTION 59: Southern mink and muskrat season opening dates (280116, 540916, 650216)
Recently, in an effort to simplify regulations, a statewide opening date was established for mink and muskrat (the Saturday nearest October 25). This resulted in an opening date about a week earlier in what was formerly the southern zone. Some trappers are concerned that the last litter of muskrats are too small at that time to have any value and the pelts of muskrats and mink are not yet prime and are sub-optimal quality. Trappers have also cited conflicts with other users during this time. Trappers who voluntarily delay trapping to account for these concerns worry that they will experience a lower harvest because trappers who choose to trap early will have already taken a large part of the trappable surplus before the pelts become prime.
59. Do you support a rule change to create two mink and muskrat zones, dividing Wisconsin along State Highway 60? The northern zone would keep the current opener (the Saturday nearest October 25) while the southern zone would open two weeks later.

Meaning for 2017 the 'rat/mink opener for the southern zone would be November 11th, the weekend before the gun deer opener.

How do things get so screwed up within the CC that the best they can offer is a two zone system with the boundary between the two zones about 300 miles from the northern end of the north zone and about 50 miles from the southern end of the south zone?

Haha. Curious on reading the different versions and start collusion with the other parties stepping up on this issue.

Really. Well, I've got one for ya. Only six Wisconsin trappers cared enough about this issue to take it to the Conservation Congress hearings last month and submit a resolution that would change the season on muskrats.
