So here is the situation... I had a elderly couple get a hold of me and need help catching a weasel that is killing her chickens. I am planning on charging them $20 as the gentleman is willing to do all the work after I set the place up. It's on the edge of town and surrounded by marshland. He has tried cages with liver under the coop with no success. They moved the chickens to a relative's house but want to bring them back. I am thinking traps should be pulled back to the yard edge at least. So my question is what type of bait is most effective for weasels in the spring/summer I have several lures so not really looking for more but I know chicken liver goes bad pretty fast in warm weather. Any insights (bait, trap locations or what ever advice you have) will be much appreciated

Well there can be alot of different baits that could work. Maybe try some fresh chicken, fish, or if you can find a mouse nest that works great to.

The homeowner said she went out to check on the chickens and saw a long brown animal run out a hole she said it was not a rat. They have caught some rats but this was not one. The chickens were killed and piled behind the garbage cans they use to hold the feed. All were neck bit and one head eaten but nothing else. Has happened four times and also killed a ringneck pheasant and a racing pigeon the pigeon also it's head eaten and was drug half out another hole. So I can't say for sure as I am not a professional but seems to me she at least has a weasel in the area.

Well tried a few of the suggestions here and no luck after she moved the chickens. Had sets out for two weeks and told the homeowners to call of the critter returns as she brought the chickens home. They were happy with my efforts and at $20 I figured two weeks was enough.
