I posted this trap on here several years ago before the Collector Forum was made. Don't recall who told me, but they said I had a sawyer trap from England used for rabbits. The only markings are S-2-10. It is a very heavy duty well made trap that is stout when it goes off. I don't believe thy are worth much but just interesting and different. I bought two of them at a local yard sele several years ago. Just curious if anyone has anymore insight to them.

It may very well be a sawyer but most guys I know would call it an rspca trap and many traps that look almost exactly the same have rspca stamped on them. Royal society prevention cruelty animals. The trap is a rabbit vermin trap and comes from England.

I just picked up that very same trap a month ago. Looks like it would make a great mink bodygripper. The chain looks like it would break if you snapped it hard enough and probably would be an expensive trap to make in todays world. The limited research I did said it was common in the 50s and 60s.

Mind if I ask what you gave??? IIRC believe I gave $5-10 each for mine at the yard sale. On mine someone had brazed brass/alloy knots on one of the jaws creating sort of an offset. What is the pin laying on the coil spring used for. It's got to be to do with the dog or something?

I pd 20 for mine. I dont really know what that extra pin is for, it sets well without using it. Mine has no brazing on it. I want to set it for mink this year just for the heck of it.

The 'extra pin' is a safety catch wink
