Besides traps is there a way to keep urban yotes out of a yard? 4'tall fenced yard, has chickens and grandkids. Also scaling up the fence and using traps are not options.

Would mt lion or bear urine work? Have both on hand

In the late 1990s I did a nuisance coyote job for a large corporate farm...sheep were being killed. Set traps up where I could as there was lots of traffic(pets, people etc). One day I pull up and the owner had moved his sheep into a pasture and had two Llamas in there. Few weeks go by and I pull into the two track and glance towards the sheep pasture...there stands a coyote with it's front paws on a dead Llama...yep coyotes and a feral dog had managed to kill the Llama.

MCewk, my experience with llamas is similar. Sheep were being killed in a pasture where a llama was supposed to be protecting them. I got pics on a trail camera of the llama paying no attention to the coyote a few feet from it. I caught a male and female yote and that ended the sheep killing.

Don't know anything about alpacas, but my miniature donkey has no fear of dogs (or any other animal that I know of) at all, so even one of the small ones may keep coyotes at bay. A large dog started getting aggressive around him and ran under his belly barking. The next pass I heard a whump and the dog started squalling. The donkey had kicked him in the ribs and went back to grazing. The dog never got closer than 20 feet again.
