First 2 photos I didn't harvest.

All I wanted from the tree in the last 2 pics.

Very nice dillrod! How do you preserve those when you get a bunch? I found two trees like that today also. Would like to save some of possible.

I have frozen oysters. They are tough when you cook them after frozen but are good in sauces and gravy.

I am trying a dehydrator on mine.
Extra dry and leave a piece of paper towel in bottom of jar with lid, to absorb any possible moisture.
All new to me ,but short term testing was excellent when rehydrated.
Put up 4 qt. jars , we shall see.

Nothing special.
Cut / tear into equal portions for uniform drying.
Lowest heat on an adj. dehydrator.
You want zero moisture left.
(snaps) easily is good indicator
Store in sealed jars with paper towel in bottom and under lid on top.
First time drying oysters like this.
I have Hen of the woods from last year like this.
I expect another year of shelf life maybe more.

Uses include ;
snap into serving size and toss into what ever dish you are cooking .
They will rehydrate and cook into soups and sauces really well.
Another way is place pcs. in a pepper grinder as a seasoning.
Regulate seasoning portions , as it's now a concentrated flavor at this point.

Dill , rice works really well with your dried specimens for absorbing moisture .

What kind of trees are those, they only grow on rotting willow trees down here?

I love oysters but it was tough at first to get over the maggots crawling out of them when you cook them.

2nd one down is a Beech tree.
Others are all Ash trees I believe.
Emerald ash borers are wrecking havoc , lots of dead trees around here
Did find some yesterday growing on a Sassafras tree.

Hmm,
I always watch for wormy stems in any mushrooms I harvest.
Any pics ?
Were the mushrooms still bright white colored?

Have you tried to dip in egg and flour before freezing? Works with morels, although morels have a thinner skin. Never tried freezing oysters.
