WTA District 5 is holding their Summer Rendezvous and District Meeting On Saturday, June 24!!!!!! Location is at Swarthout Park, on Co. Rd. ZB on Brice Prairie, a few miles north of Onalaska. FOLLOW THE "WTA" SIGNS OFF OF HWY. 35. 9:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. Meeting is from 1:00 to 3:00.Drawings held after the meeting.
Demonstrations: Start at 9:00 a.m. and will run up to the meeting. So far the lineup is:
9:00-"Proper Use of Lures and Baits" by Tom Roskos, owner of the Trap Shack Company.
10:00- "Watersets" Our very own "Muskrat"! Mike Widner, proprietor of Riverine Traders will be doing watersets.
11:00- "What the Furbuyer Looks For"-by Dan Wiebke, owner of Wiebke Furs. Dan will be showing examples and discussing the finer points of fur handling and how to get the most out of your fur. He will also be discussing the status of the fur market.
12:00-Still being finalized.
Food: Available (brats, hot dogs, etc. from Boy Scout Troop 21)
Raffles: We'll have lots of great raffle prizes, bucket raffles, and walk-arounds. Drawing after the meeting.
1st-Savage Axis 30-06 with Scope
2nd-20 Quart Yeti Cooler
3rd-Packers Print "The Legacy Continues" Starr, Favre, Rogers
4th-Trapper print by Dick Quick
$2 per ticket, $5 for 3 tickets, $10 for a book of 7 tickets. Tickets will be available from District 5 members or at the event. Do not need to be present to win!
Lots of walk-arounds with great prizes as well!!!!!Hot off the press...D5 will have a Skinning Machine as one of the walk-around raffles!!!!!!!!!
There will be vendors and tailgaters there with a variety of trapping supplies, sporting antiques, etc. No charge for vendors or tailgaters and we are always looking for more! Set-up as early as you want on Saturday. Outdoor only so you may want to bring a canopy.
The only downside to this location is that there is NO CAMPING. The park is located directly across from a boat landing on Lake Onalaska.
