Got a call for a den of coon pups under front stoop/sidewalk area....all hollowed out. No female....just little ones.....can't access due to vast area under stoop. Any ideas?

Sorry wasn't clear enough....front step of porch ....about 6 ft back in the corner.....the entire porch is hollow that allows them to move any where.

If they are big enough to move around you may be able to just use a small cafe trap with bail tat the entrance. Have had to do this for skunks when momma gets hit by car

Also with snake catching pole. Reach pole and arm in and grasp away Not easy but you can tell when you have closed on to one

Dig dig dig may be your only good option making the opening large enough to get your head in to see and arm in to operate the snake grabbers

Pictures? I'd use a catch pole, and if they aren't in that area where the hole is, you may need to remove a section to gain entry under the porch. If thats not an option, set traps over the hole and bait them out considering they're running around. Good chance they will venture out.

Similar situation pertaining to access and movement. Used blocking one way doors, two door traps and ground traps where momma was climbing. Had these pups and momma running rafter and soffit bays. Over a dozen entry points in the roof along with tin ceilings.

They could move from one side of the house to the opposite side of the house. Ended up having to corner them into a bay on one side of the gable end with hardware cloth and pulled them out from the side fascia. Then brought to a rehabber. Traps aren't always the answer.

Thanks...tried all of the above...ain't working. Can't get easy access because the stoop is 18 inches off ground...tough one!

You might have to figure out away to block movement underneath. If you can slide sheet metal or wire cloth down on either side. Then try methods again worse case you might have to remove the stoop enough to get your self in.

So while I don't use glue boards for snakes if you
have any of the cahaba snake boards or a similar high take brand,
mounted on the end of a painters pole or extendable net pole.

We used this method for a chimney extraction of a litter of 5 all in the 5lb
range weight wise. Basically gorilla taped the back of the glue board onto
the pole, (don't spare the tape!) and put it down there and the first couple
Actually jumped at the board in a defensive action and stuck their paws to it,
the next guys we had to slap lightly with it but worked like a champ!

Had all 5 in a porta kennel after a quick veggie oil separation.

They lose a few guard hairs but better than starving to death. I keep a supply
of glue boards on hand just for dead animal retrieval that is beyond snake tongs
or other graspers. Just have to be very careful you don't stick yourself to deck boards, etc...

The case with the litter we had the homeowner live trapped and relocated the female
not realizing it had young in his chimney... the interior wasn't accessible enough to grab them
So the boards were a life saver.

Just a thought...

(I should add I do not like glue boards for any other purpose and lately many folks in my area are
finding lots of them with things they weren't supposed to catch in them including many that are state
or federally protected... for this rescue purpose though and dead animal or bird removal they are top notch!)

Dig, remove a section of porch, drive 20 inch by w/e your length is piece of plywood through the side so its in the soil about an inch down. Or dig enough down where the stoop mets the deck and slide the board under then flip it vertical. Then corral them with water from a hose if applicable. Place a trap in front of the hole.

I like eviction paste on very young coon.Mostly because there is very little labor involved.
If that doesn't work, a week or ten days is a huge time frame in most young animals lives, growth spurts are amazing . The baby's will be trailing behind mom in no time. When they leave for the evening you can do the exclusion. Or if they are active you can one way door as part of your exclusion. No exclusion ???? then the job isn't finished. Just a few thoughts.
OOOOps did not read the no female part. Game callers / food and scared hungry babys go together nicely.

I've used a shop vac to suck them out of the smoke shelf in a chimney.

I've use a NO-MOL trap on a pole to get them out of a ceiling bay. The glue trap didn't work due to the insulation, but the no-mol did. I couldn't see them either, so a no-mol on a pole and a mirror to see what I was doing. Took about 3 hrs to get 3 tiny pups, but didn't have to open up a decorative ceiling.

MChewk,
I have used 3/32” snare cable, frayed at the end, to retrieve both dead and live critters from confined spaces. Fray the end of the cable about 1”, insert cable into confined area, twist cable between your fingers; frayed end of cable will tangle in animal’s fur, pull animal from confined area. Use caution- some animals may be a little p----d off when they come out!whistle

I learned this trick from my father in the 1940’s. He used barbed wire to recover raccoons and skunks that he had shot under deserted homes, outbuildings, and culverts. Barbed wire will still work too.
