Lady calls and says that her neighbor has tubs of water in the yard set up for the 4 or 5 dozen muskovie ducks that live around there and also feeds them but the ducks dont stay in the neighbors yard and all come into her her yard after eating and have covered her yard with duck mess and it stinks very bad. She would like these ducks gone or deterred from entering her yard. What can be done? It would be too much to exclude the entire yard. I'm thinking a couple pet dobermans would be the best option.

Hog line a few inches above the ground? They'd probably just hop over it after a while though. I've never seen those ducks flying, but I'm sure they can. Dobermans might be the only answer to keep 50 ducks out of the yard. Dead duck decoys? Do they make those?

Can you shoot feral ducks there?

Every kid needs a Dog and a Curmudgeon.

No shooting in city limits.

Electric fence like protecting a sweet corn patch from coons. Leave garage door open. They are good eating

A wooden club, magnalite pot (or black iron), onions, bell peppers, celery if she's up to it, garlic, salt, cayenne, and a splash of oil.

Invite neighbor for supper.
Boom, problem solved and only cost neighbor 3 muscovies (unless she has a huge pot).

At the recommendation of my mentor, try trapping them. Build duck traps using poultry wire. Build the frame, wrap in poultry wire, and make a funnel with the wire. Leave funnel OFF and bait with corn. Once they're using it regularly, put on the funnel. Stake the trap down and bait it in a way that they have to go into the trap and not be able to reach it from the sides.

Trying to avoid trapping them things due to the fact that I don't wish to have a conflict with the neighbor. In doing research on this, I think the way to go will be deterrents. Not sure if the scare eyes is going to work but there is also the flash tape and, if needed, the dreaded spray but hopefully it won't come to that. Honestly, I believe a couple Doberman or lab puppies is the best route though.
